Is Fill My Day coming to my area?

Not yet, unless you're in Bristol. Fill My Day launches first in Bristol, with plumbers only, and the app is still in development. We haven't set dates for anywhere else, and we'd rather say so than promise a date we can't keep.

Why one city first

Matching only works when plumbers and jobs are close together. Fill My Day sends a job to plumbers who are free at the right time and near enough to get there. Spread thinly across the country, a job might find nobody free within reach. Concentrated in one city, it finds someone.

Starting in one place also means every plumber can be checked properly by a person before they reply to a job, and we can listen closely to the first plumbers and customers and fix what needs fixing.

How we'll choose new areas

A new area is ready when matching can work there from the first day. That means two things together:

• Enough plumbers who'd open a window when they're free, spread across the area.
• Enough jobs close to them, so a job posted at lunchtime has a real chance of reaching someone free that afternoon.

That's why we expect Fill My Day to grow outward, area by area, rather than everywhere at once. Plumbers will set how far they'll travel from where they start, so the edges of a working area reach a little further on their own. Adding the next area alongside one that's working keeps plumbers and jobs close together. Opening everywhere at once would spread both too thinly to help anyone.

Other trades

Plumbing comes first. Every trade knows the afternoon that goes quiet when a job finishes early or a customer cancels, so other trades may follow as Fill My Day grows. We'll get it right for plumbers and their customers before adding anyone else.

If you're a plumber outside Bristol

You won't be able to join at launch, but the idea is the same wherever you work: set a window when you're free, say how far you'll travel, and get sent nearby jobs that fit. Read how Fill My Day works for plumbers. When we open a new area, we'll say so on this site.
