FOR SMALL CONTRACTORS

A plumber for a few hours, when the programme slips

Programmes move. When you need a plumber for half a day, the ones with a gap in theirs are the ones to ask.

Coming soon to Bristol. Not taking bookings yet.

IN SHORT

Small contractors, developers and subcontractors will be able to post short plumbing jobs on site, with the address, timing and what's needed. Plumbers with free time nearby reply with a price. It launches in Bristol.

Built by people from construction

Fill My Day is being built by Managed Construction Ltd. The idea comes from site work: programmes slip, trades get stood down, and someone always needs a plumber for half a day that nobody planned for. Meanwhile, a plumber on another job finishes early with an afternoon to fill.

When it helps

  • A programme moves and you need first or second fix done sooner than planned.
  • Your usual plumber is booked and the job is too small to wait for them.
  • A snag list needs clearing before handover: a dripping trap, a loose tap, a leaking valve.
  • A small works job needs a plumber for a few hours alongside your own trades.

What to put in the post

  • Site address and postcode, so the job reaches plumbers nearby.
  • What's needed and roughly how long, with drawings or photos if you have them.
  • Timing: the day and the hours you need someone.
  • Who supplies materials, and whether anything's already on site.
  • Access and parking, including anything unusual about getting on site.

EXAMPLE

A small contractor refurbishing a flat in St Pauls needs two basins and a WC connected before the tiler arrives on Friday. They post the job for Wednesday afternoon with the drawings, note that fittings are on site and parking is on the street, and say a site induction is needed. A plumber free that afternoon a few miles away replies with a price, and the details are agreed in messages.

Site rules still apply

If your site needs a CSCS card, an induction or specific PPE, say so in the job. Share your risk assessment and method statement as you normally would once you've accepted a price. Fill My Day handles the introduction. Running the site, and health and safety on it, is still down to you.

Agreeing scope and payment

Agree the scope, the price, the hours and how you'll pay in the app's messages before work starts, so there's a record. If you use your own subcontract terms, send them before the plumber arrives. Payment is between you and the plumber directly. No money goes through the app at launch.

Checks

Every plumber's qualifications and public liability insurance are checked by a person before they can reply to a job. If your site needs more than that, such as a particular level of cover or specific cards, ask for it before you accept. Read how we check plumbers.

What it's for, and what it isn't

Fill My Day is built for short jobs that fit into someone's free hours. Larger packages of work are still best priced and tendered the usual way.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions,
answered straight.

Can I use it for bigger packages of work?

It's built for short jobs that fit into someone's free hours. Bigger packages are better priced and tendered the usual way.

Do plumbers have their own insurance?

Every plumber's public liability insurance is checked before they can reply to jobs. If your site needs specific cover levels or cards, ask before you accept a price.

Can I use my own subcontract terms?

Yes. Send them in messages before the plumber arrives and agree them as you normally would.

How do we pay?

You pay the plumber directly, as you agree with them. No money goes through the app at launch.
