VERIFICATION

Checked by a person before anyone goes live

Being on Fill My Day is meant to mean something. Every plumber's documents are looked at by a real person before they can take work.

Coming soon to Bristol.

IN SHORT

Plumbers upload their qualifications and proof of public liability insurance when they join. The Fill My Day team checks them and approves each plumber before they can reply to jobs. Anyone offering gas work must be Gas Safe registered. Verification checks documents at the time of approval. It isn't a guarantee of the quality of any job.

What we check

DOCUMENTWHAT WE LOOK FORWHO NEEDS IT
QualificationsRelevant plumbing qualifications, for example an NVQ in plumbing and heating, in your nameEvery plumber
Public liability insuranceA current certificate in your name or your business's name, with the cover amount and expiry dateEvery plumber
Gas Safe registrationA current Gas Safe ID card, with the gas work you're registered forAnyone offering gas work

Gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer by law. If you don't do gas work, you don't need Gas Safe registration to join, but you won't be matched with gas jobs.

Who does the checking

A person does. Documents are reviewed by the Fill My Day team at Managed Construction Ltd, and each plumber is approved one at a time before they can reply to a job. It isn't a form you tick yourself, and it isn't an automated check.

If something is missing or unclear, we'll tell you what we need. You can't reply to jobs until you're approved.

Why we do it by hand

Automated checks are fast, but they miss things a person spots: a certificate in someone else's name, insurance that's about to run out, a qualification that doesn't match the work being offered. Starting small in Bristol means every plumber gets looked at properly.

It also means being on Fill My Day tells a customer something. Every plumber they hear from has been looked at by a person first.

What verification means, and what it doesn't

Verification means we've seen the plumber's documents and they were in order when we approved them. It isn't a guarantee of the quality of any particular job, and it doesn't replace your own judgement.

Fill My Day introduces customers and plumbers. The work itself is agreed between the two of them.

For customers: checking for yourself

  • Agree the details in writing. Use the app's messages to agree the price, what's included and when the plumber will arrive.
  • Read the reviews. Look at what other customers said, and how many jobs the plumber has completed.
  • Check gas engineers yourself. For any gas work, you can look up an engineer on the Gas Safe Register and ask to see their ID card when they arrive.

Reviews add to it

After every job, customer and plumber review each other. Over time, that tells you more than any document: whether someone turns up when they said, does what they priced, and leaves the place tidy.

If something isn't right

Tell us. We look into problems with plumbers and customers, and we can suspend or remove any account on Fill My Day.

GOOD TO KNOW

Questions,
answered straight.

Is every plumber checked?

Yes. Nobody can reply to a job until their documents have been checked and they've been approved by a person.

Does verification guarantee the work?

No. It confirms the plumber's documents were in order when we approved them. Agree the price and what's included before work starts, and check reviews.

Do I need Gas Safe registration to join?

Only if you offer gas work. Plumbers who don't do gas work can join without it, and won't be matched with gas jobs.

How long does approval take?

We check each plumber by hand, so it depends on how many are joining at once. We'll tell you if anything is missing.

What if my insurance runs out?

Keep it current and tell us when you renew. We can ask for up-to-date documents at any time.

Can a plumber be removed?

Yes. We can suspend or remove any account.
