About Fill My Day

The idea

Every tradesperson knows the feeling. The job finishes early, the customer cancels, or the materials turn up wrong, and there's an afternoon with nothing in it. Meanwhile, round the corner, someone has a small job nobody's had time for.

Most platforms are directories. You search a list, find a name, and wait for a call back. None of them know who's free right now, or for how long. Fill My Day starts there: with the time people actually have.

Who's behind it

Fill My Day is being built by Managed Construction Ltd, a construction company. It comes from building sites rather than the tech industry, and it's built around how trades actually work: in vans, between jobs, with a phone in one hand.

What we believe

• Availability first. The right plumber is the one who's free and nearby, not the one who paid to be at the top of a list.
• Availability that's honest. Every window ends on its own, so it's always current.
• Checked by a person. Every plumber's documents are looked at before they go live, so being on Fill My Day means something.
• Local before national. Bristol first, done properly, before anywhere else.
• Fair to both sides. Free for plumbers and customers at launch, with reviews going both ways.

What Fill My Day isn't

• Not a directory. You won't be given a list of names to ring round.
• Not an emergency service. For a gas smell, call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.
• Not a payment platform. No money goes through the app at launch. Customers pay plumbers directly.
• Not a party to the job. We introduce customers and plumbers. The work is agreed between them.
